Day 56 – Friday 7th March
2014 – Cairns anchorage, Yorkey’s Knob
There has
been an Australian pilot on board since leaving Brisbane and today he took us
into the anchorage at Cairns at a place called Yorkey’s Knob. We anchored at 08.00 but there was to be no
shore leave; here we cleared through the Australian Immigration.
All of the
paperwork was completed by 10.30 and we were on our way again. It was another overcast day with frequent
showers.
The morning
dance lesson was the intermediate waltz which we found a challenge, but we
managed to hold it together.
With the
miserable weather stayed under cover reading, near to the midship pool,
needless to say no one was in there.
It is
another formal evening and the cocktail on the day is Malibu Surf; coconut rum,
vodka, blue curacao, shaken with pineapple juice.
Dinner
consisted of French onion soup/clams/barramundi fish/ice cream which was all
very nice.
Show time in
the theatre involved the Royal Cunard singers and dancers, plus the Australian
Danny Elliot who can play many instruments including the diggery-doo.
Finished off
in the Golden Lion with the trivia quiz wipe out, but did not finish anywhere
near the top.
We have now
left Australian waters after seven days.
I now understand why I always wanted to return, so farewell OZ, and
thank you for a wonderful week.
