Day 48 – Thursday 27th
February 2014 – At Sea
A very quiet
and easy morning after the exercises, spent sometime around the inside deck
pool on a lounger and reading.
The time
spent relaxing and catching up was leading up to the most interesting part of the
voyage for me. To see how this ship
really operates, members of the crew had really gone out of their way, which
led to a fascinating insight into the workings of cruise ships and this one in
particular, and I cannot praise them enough for actually making my day.
On board for us world voyagers, we have our own concierge,
Rachael, who looks after our needs, as we have now become Cunard Gold Member
and are entitled to 120 minutes of free internet access. She took me through the basics of the logging
in and more importantly the logging out, as the internet is very expensive on
the ship. Best times of day when to use
it, as if a lot of guests are using the satellite link, it runs very slowly.
Today’s cocktail is Sundowner, gold tequila, pineapple and
orange juices with hibiscus syrup, it is very nice.
It is another formal night and at dinner we had two special
guests at our table, they were two Maori entertainers, Marcus Winter and
Russell Harrison. Both were great
company and gave us an insight into how they are spreading the Maori culture,
they were more or less auditioning for Cunard.
We missed the theatre tonight, as we had seen the show
Palladium Nights before and went to the ballroom for the Black and White
Ball. There was a strictly come dancing
competition and a bit of an eye opener for our two guests at the table, the
Maori entertainers were the judges and they were mighty glad when it was all
over.
I had a relaxing and every educational day, and happily went
off to bed.
