Day 54 – Wednesday 5th
March 2014 – At Sea
I should
have known better not to go to the gym and sauna this morning, as today, it is
my turn to do the laundry.
As previous,
on each deck there is a launderette for guests with three washing machines and three
driers, plus an ironing board and iron.
Washing powder is also provided, although we have lost a lot of the
Americans, who used to live in there, it is still a nightmare trying to get the
timing right, as to when a machine would be available.
The time
spent going back and forth is enormous, and it is more tiring than the gym
work. From start to finish the washing
took another six hours to complete. Next
time it is Colin’s turn.
Managed to
get to the dance class; the slow waltz, and going along quite nicely.
The weather
is cold and wet with a strong wind blowing, so spent a little time reading on
deck 9, around the midship partially enclosed swimming pool.
It is a
formal night and today’s cocktail is Margarita, tequila, triple sec, lemon mix
and lime cordial, starting to get used to this tequila.
For dinner,
I had frog’s legs/salad/sirloin steak/caramelised pear. It is a long time since I ate frog’s legs,
and it will be a long time before I eat them again.
The formal
night is for the Cunard Ball, and after dinner went off to the ballroom with my
dance lesson partner, Edwina. We had a go at all the dances we had learnt, and
enjoyed trying to put it all together.
Though you do seem to concentrate more and dance better wearing a
penguin suit.
Finished off
in the Golden Lion with the trivia wipe out and came last again. So endeth another pleasant day at sea, and look
forward to a port day tomorrow.
