Day 89 - At Sea

Day 89 – Wednesday 9th April 2014 – At Sea

A calm sea, clear skies with a very warm breeze.  We are still in the main shipping lanes, and ships can be seen of all shapes and sizes, though we are seeing more container ships, of which, some are passing us, as we move along doing 20 knots.

On Deck 11, at the front of the ship, I spent some time playing bowls, which I have not done for a while, and thoroughly enjoyed the game.

The rest of the afternoon on Deck 9, lying next to the pool on a lounger and I actually finished reading my second book on the ship, which is something of a record for me.

There were a few problems in the Café Carinthia in the evening, as we had our pre-dinner drinks.  The gun which they use for the mixers was playing up, press tonic you got soda, press soda you got lemonade and other combinations.  It was a delight watching them toing and froing, as they eventually sorted it out.  A little bit of light entertainment.

When we eventually got to the Golden Lion after dinner to our surprise, the same thing was happening with their mixer gun.  Tonight though is special, as Colin has been threatening to sing at the karaoke and tonight is the night.  There was a lot in the pub, as the theatre show was not up too much.

Colin duly got up and sang one of my favourite songs, and they all enjoyed his rendition of one of Willie Nelson’s classics.

A very pleasant day; looking forward to another port tomorrow.
