Day 88 – Tuesday 8th April
2014 – At Sea
We are in a
very busy shipping lane on the main route between the Far East and the Suez
Canal.
There are ships of all shapes and
sizes passing by, as we head on a westerly course between from the top end of
the island of Sumatra, going towards the southern tip of Sri Lanka.
We also passed through 90 degrees east
longitude, which means we have now travelled three quarters of the way around
the world.
The weather
is very hot with a flat very blue sea and almost cloudless sky and from the
advantage point of the Lido Restaurant, nine decks up; I spotted my first
dolphins, since leaving Southampton.
There were three of them very close to the ship and just lying on the surface, as we passed by,
they never moved, so must have been asleep; never seen that before.
The night’s
musical entertainment was given by ‘Transatlantic’, two leading stars from
London West end and Broadway musical theatre.
Kieran from Falkirk, Scotland was very good, while Sarah from New York
could not match him, which was a disappointment.
Finished off
the day on deck on this warm clear night; stargazing. They were all there, the Pole Star; Plough
and Southern Cross, a wonderful sight.
