Day 86 – Sunday 6th April
2014 – Port Kelang, Malaysia
We were
alongside for 09.00 for my first visit to Malaysia.

The shuttle bus took
us to Klang City, a thirty minute ride away and dropped us off, at yet another
shopping mall.
We tried to negotiate
with the local taxi drivers to take us to the capital Kuala Lumpur, though they
would do it, we would not be able to do the sights we wanted to visit, in the
time available.
The drive to
the mall was an eye opener after the cleanliness of Singapore, the litter was
the most obvious, as it was everywhere
The buildings and dwelling were not in a very good state of repair and
in many ways a little depressing.
Anyway, into
the mall and after wandering around the three levels, there was not much here
for us, but the deciding factor for staying, it was air conditioned and we
found a café which had internet, and served an excellent crispy noddle lunch.
We both took
the opportunity to have our locks shorn, and had a haircut, but they would not
go anywhere near trimming Colin’s beard.

We were not
sad leaving the mall, as the shuttle bus took us back to the ship. On the way out of the docks in the morning, I
had spotted what I believed was the docker’s canteen. After leaving the bus at the cruise terminal,
wandered over there.
A little heaven; in
this Muslim country, where they sold Tiger beer in cans. On this very hot day, it was most welcome and
I went back to the ship a lot happier.
We sailed at
18.00 and I do not think anybody was disappointed.
The theatre
show was by Gary Lovini, an excellent violin player and to round the off the
day, I went on deck, and saw the Plough and Southern Cross in the night
sky.
