Day 82 – Wednesday 2nd
April 2014 – At Sea
The joys of
the Cunard bug; the gym was very hard work, as the bug has now implanted itself
in my chest.
On deck with
the morning lemon tea, I witnessed a phenomenon I had never seen before. Below a very bright sun was a reversed
rainbow, although there was no near clouds, and below the rainbow, another
shorter straight lined rainbow. I took
pictures the best I could, but it is difficult to distinguish what I was
looking at (the wonders of nature).
At 11.00 went
to the theatre for a lecture by Sir Alan Collins, a former high commissioner to
Singapore, on how it started off as a fishing village to becoming a world
city. I thoroughly enjoyed the talk
which was far superior to what is the usual fare given by the tourist office on
port presentations.
Today it is
my turn to do the laundry and as usual is a nightmare; from start to finish it
took six hours. Ship board stories of
this thankless task are endless.
It is a
formal night, and after dinner which at last, I ate meat, as for the past four
meals it has been fish, as this is all I can get past my throat. The theme for the formal night is Royal Ascot
Ball and going along, there were not too many ladies hats in evidence.
On deck for
some star gazing but unfortunately still too much cloud around, so off to bed
for another early night.
